The Amazing Mile Run is on Friday, Sept. 29; Virginia 10 Miler is on Saturday, Sept. 30
Two of Lynchburg's most popular running events take place this weekend: The Amazing Mile Youth Run on Friday, Sept. 29 and the Virginia 10 Miler on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Whether you or your children are running in these events, watching from the sidelines, or neither, you'll want to be aware of the road closures for these events, shared by the City of Lynchburg.
Amazing Mile Youth Run and Family Festival takes place on Sept. 29 starting at 6 PM (festival at 4 PM) at Amazement Square. The start / finish line is at Ninth and Jefferson Streets. This event is open to all children up to age 13.
Virginia 10 Miler, Virginia 4 Miler, and Virginia 4 Mile Walk take place on Sept. 30 at 8 AM at E.C. Glass High School. The start / finish line is on Langhorne Road in front of E.C. Glass High School. All three events are open to all ages.
Parking Lot and Road Closures - Friday, Sept. 29
7 AM - 8:30 PM - Mosaic Lot is closed
7 AM - 8:30 PM - Movie Lot is closed
3 PM - 8 PM - No street parking on Jefferson Street from Eighth Street to Ninth Street
3 PM - 8 PM - Jefferson Street close from Seventh Street to the Movie Lot
3 PM - 8 PM - Seventh Street closed at Commerce Street
3 PM - 8 PM - Ninth Street closed between Commerce Street and Depot Lot
Road Closures - Saturday, Sept. 30
6:30 AM - Langhorne Road (between Memorial Avenue and Murrell Road) closes to all traffic
7:30 AM - Langhorne Road (from Murrell Road to Rivermont Terrace) closes to all traffic
7:30 AM - Rivermont Terrace (from Langhorne Road to Rivermont Avenue) closes to all traffic
7:30 AM - Cranehill Drive (from Langhorne Road to Heron Hill Place) closes to all traffic
7:45 AM - Rivermont Avenue (from Rivermont Terrace to Riverside Park) closes to all traffic
9:30 AM - Rivermont Avenue and Cranehill Drive reopen to the public
10:30 AM - Rivermont Terrace and Langhorne Road (from Rivermont Avenue to Murrell Road) reopen to the public
11:30 AM - Langhorne Road (from Murrell Road to Memorial Avenue) reopen to the public
In addition, the Four Mile Run/Walk course will utilize the extension of the Blackwater Creek Trail from the Ed Page entrance to Linkhorne Middle School. The trail extension will be closed during this time.
